Use and reuse

Terms of Use

Reviewed 6 August 2026

These terms explain the site's informational purpose and how OpenStreetMap-derived data may be reused. They do not replace the Open Database License; if this summary conflicts with ODbL 1.0, the license text controls.

Plain-language position

OpenStreetMap-derived camera data may be copied, shared, adapted, and used commercially, subject to ODbL attribution, notice, and share-alike requirements. SpeedCams.world does not add a personal-use-only or non-commercial restriction to those database rights.

1. Scope and acceptance

By accessing SpeedCams.world you may browse the public pages and use any available static export subject to these terms and the applicable third-party licenses. No account or contract for a live navigation, enforcement, or legal-information service is created.

2. OSM-derived database rights

Camera records originate from OpenStreetMap contributors. OpenStreetMap database content is available under the Open Data Commons Open Database License 1.0.

To the extent a SpeedCams.world database or export reproduces or substantially extracts OSM data, reuse must comply with ODbL. Natural Earth boundary data and map tiles are separate inputs with their own terms; they are not relicensed by this page.

ODbL obligations

Attribution

Credit “© OpenStreetMap contributors”, link to openstreetmap.org/copyright, and identify ODbL 1.0 with a link to the license.

Keep notices

Do not remove relevant attribution or license notices. Make the notice reasonably visible for the way the data or work is publicly used.

Share alike

If you publicly use an adapted database, offer that adapted database under ODbL and satisfy the license's access requirements.

3. Produced Works and adapted databases

ODbL distinguishes an adapted database from a Produced Work, such as a rendered map or visualization created from a database. A Produced Work may be distributed under terms of your choice, but it must carry the notice required by ODbL when it publicly uses the database.

If the Produced Work uses an adapted database, the obligation to offer that adapted database under ODbL can still apply. Review sections 4.3, 4.4, and 4.6 of the full license for the requirements relevant to your use. This page is a practical summary, not legal advice.

4. Informational use only

Camera records may be incomplete, inaccurate, misclassified, or outdated. The site does not provide real-time camera status, turn-by-turn navigation, legal advice, or an authoritative speed-limit register.

Never use the presence or absence of a record as permission to speed or ignore instructions. Posted road signs, road conditions, official directions, and safe driving take priority over this site and its exports.

A country assignment or mapped location on SpeedCams.world does not determine whether a camera is lawful, operational, correctly signed, or within a particular legal jurisdiction. Boundary classification is a data-processing result, not a legal conclusion.

5. No warranty

The site and its data are provided “as is” and “as available”, without a promise that any record, classification, speed tag, count, export, or external link is complete, current, accurate, or suitable for a particular device or purpose. To the extent permitted by applicable law, use is at your own risk. Nothing here excludes a right or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

6. Availability and changes

Pages, maps, formats, and exports may be corrected, withdrawn, or regenerated when source or processing issues are found. A link or format label is not a guarantee of permanent availability. Material changes to these terms should be reflected by changing the review date above.
